2.2.9 Equipment Register

Prototype 

The Official Railroad Equipment Register was compiled and printed monthly by the Railway Equipment and Publishing Company. It provides freight car information on railway equipment of the United States, Canadian and Mexican Railroads and private car owners. Freight car information includes:

  • AAR Car Type Code, Car description, Reporting marks, Series Numbers, External and Internal length, width and height, Width and height of door openings, GRL, Cubic feet capacity. 
  • Car ownership information, Contacts for movement, car hire and mileage reports, Car repair billing and remittance contacts.

The WWSL

Here is the Equipment Register information for the Western Washington Short Line, the Olympic Peninsula Logging Company and the Saginaw Timber Company.


 










  • The car department accesses the ORER when its interchange partners (Milwaukee Road, Northern Pacific, Union Pacific) identify freight cars arriving the WWSL interchange (both loaded and empty).
  • The WWSL car department compiles and maintains freight car information for itself, the Olympic Peninsula Logging Company, and the Saginaw Timber Company. 
  •  The following extracts are maintained by the WWSL Car Department for internal car movement operations.
