2.3.10 General Orders

Prototype Information

Railroad operations are all about communications. Before beginning each day's work or trip, trainmen, enginemen, and any others whose duties require, must review all general orders, bulletin orders, railroad circulars, instructions, notices, and other information issued and canceled by the designated manager that apply to the territory they will work on.

General Orders

General orders are information and instructions related to rules or operating practices. They originate from corporate headquarters and their purpose is to broadly communicate any modification or replacement of any rule, special instruction, or regulation that conflicts with existing written documentation in the field. General orders are issued and canceled by designated department managers. 

The WWSL 

WWSL corporate headquarters also issues general orders and those orders are posted on crew bulletin boards.The general order consists of a general order header and a separate page or pages. 

Here is a copy of the General Order Header. It is formatted to fit an 81/2 by 11 sheet.
