9.3 Rolling Stock - WWSL

The WWSL

When the OPLC created the WWSL for common service the OPLC kept all the woods operations equipment, and transferred all the non-woods rolling stock to the WWSL.

Acquisitions. The WWSL would have older rolling stock purchased through used equipment dealers and renovated in the railroad's shops. As operational requirements (and finances) dictated the WWSL purchased new equipment when required and refurbished existing equipment at their home shops when feasible.

To support loads in interchange to foreign markets, the WWSL went to the used car market and purchased, thru equipment brokers, a new generation of flat cars, box cars, gondolas and hoppers to meet the myriad of online business opportunities that mandated its creation and operations.

  • To support the OPLC, the WWSL purchased thru equipment brokers rutland rr flat cars as replacements for the Fitzhugh-Luther flat cars, in turn converting the Fitzhugh-Luther flat cars to tool, bunk and other specialty cars.
  •  To support sand and gravel business created by the Grand Coulee Dam project, the WWSL purchased 55 ton 2 bay hoppers.
  • To support the coal operations, the WWSL purchased USRA 55 ton 2 bay hoppers
