2.3.6 Car Movement Request

Prototype Information

A shipper who wants a car to load calls his local agent (or in a city, a Car Distributor) and says what the load is and where it’s going. The agent or distributor arranges to get the empty delivered to the shipper's location for loading. Here is a copy of a NP Car Order Form.

The WWSL

Car ordering. The WWSL operates under the Car Movement system.

The WWSL station agent is responsible for car movement.   The agent identifies inbound loads for interchange based on an industry usage formula. Finally he acts as car distributor for the three Class 1's and identifies empties to be staged at the two Class 1 interchange locations for delivery to the WWSL.

The agent uses WWSL Form 6 Car Movement Request to identify empty car requests from WWSL customers, the OPLC and the STC (the OPLC and the STC being considered customers).

I found this Car Movement Request format in the August 1997 Model Railroad article by Jim Mansfield

It is divided into three sections, Car Ordering, Switch Requests, and Car Movement

Car Movement Request.
